Learning to speak English correctly is hard for a non-native speaker. I struggled with many foreign sounds that did not exist in my native language, and merely speaking more did not help. I was fortunate to study at an overseas university and surrounded myself with English-speaking classmates, yet I rarely found any improvement. Many of my sounds were incorrect, and I only reinforced these bad habits when talking.
  
  I started taking classes with Shannon one year ago. She first assessed my speech and gave suggestions on the sounds that we needed to work on. During class, I practiced the sound while Shannon listened and gave detailed instructions on how I should pronounce it. The process was frustrating, and fortunately, Shannon was accommodating and exceedingly patient (Hey, she works with children on speech therapy daily!).
  
  As I mended my pronunciation, we worked on intonation and delivery. We sometimes talked about topics during lessons, and Shannon was an excellent person to have a conversation with. Her cheerful personality made our lessons more enjoyable.
  
  Speaking English clearly opened many new doors for me. I was able to join new activities around the campus and become a tutor teaching subjects that I loved. I took a class with the same professor that worked with me two years ago, and he complimented my English. It feels so surreal!
  
  Study English can be tough and demotivating, and it is always helpful to have a good teacher who guides you and keeps yourself accountable. I highly recommend Shannon for her expertise in speech training, patience, and personality as a teacher. All the best!   

 I enjoy taking English classes with Shannon. She is smart, and she has given me advanced insights of the American culture and its language. She has helped me to be confident and improve my communication skills. I came to her classes by necessity and now I love the English language. I want to learn more about it, thanks to Shannon´s classes.

I highly recommend classes with Shannon. I met with Shannon when my English was on B1/B2 level with a noticeable Polish accent. I especially had difficulties with the “th” sound which does not exist in my native language. While I have been practicing my speech with Shannon, she helped me to understand the mechanics of pronunciation of the challenging words so I could practice until mastered. It is worth to point out that Shannon adjusts to a person, and she uses methods that are the most suitable to the personality, temper, and profession. She is very knowledgeable about the speech and accent reduction but also has a great approach to students.

Shannon also helped me to prepare for public speaking about various subjects in chemical engineering. She has a great knowledge of how to present the information, so people get interested and they are focused on the presentation. That includes clear speech as well as the way of delivering the message. 

After taking classes with Shannon my speech became more natural and fluent. My accent has been reduced and I became more confident about my speech. In addition, my writing as well as grammar became much better. I have given up perfectionism and I am no longer afraid to speak and write in English.
